19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former coach Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
