Man admits sex offences targeting young males at youth camp
A person who spiked sweets with tranquilliser and distributed them to children at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual offences against two children both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on Friday.
However, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She stated his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he managed.
The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the minors, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the next day.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had suspicions in July 2025.
The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated materials including infant oil, petroleum jelly and injection devices were located, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his worries.
She explained Ruben proceeded to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson notified the police a second time.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
