Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extra-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51M spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB stated this represents the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s epic game secured over 27 million audience members on Fox channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% improvement over the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-game World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete American average was over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 different languages.
